Individual Sessions
Initial individual sessions are generally 90 minutes, follow-up individual sessions are 60 minutes. In addition to acupuncture, initial appointments involve an in-depth health history intake, discussion of goals and treatment options, and patient education. Individual sessions are held in a private room with just patient and practitioner; during the treatment the patient relaxes on a heated massage table. These treatments set aside more time for the patient to discuss their needs and concerns, and offer greater flexibility as there is additional access to the body; acupuncture may be conducted with the patient lying either face up or face down on the table. Accessory techniques such as cupping, Tuina, and moxibustion are also available during individual sessions. Patients with complex health considerations or who desire a more private treatment space may prefer individual sessions.
Community Sessions
Both initial and follow-up community sessions are generally 60 minutes. The initial session will involve a health history intake and discussion of questions and goals in addition to acupuncture. Community sessions are held in a quiet room with multiple patients receiving care simultaneously. Patients recline in comfortable chairs rather than a massage table. Intake takes place in a confidential manner at the front of the room or in the treatment chair. Accessory techniques are not utilized during community sessions. Patients who have a treatment plan that involves more frequent visits, or who are looking for upkeep in between individual sessions, may prefer community sessions.
Home Visits
Home visits are available when coming into the clinic isn’t feasible or recommended. The most common reasons our patients seek treatment in their home is for labor support, postpartum care, before and/or after IVF/IUI, or to aid postsurgical recovery. Home visits are typically an additional $50 to cover mileage and on-call expenses, and are available throughout Minneapolis and St. Paul, as well as Edina, Richfield, and West St. Paul. Home visits outside this radius may require additional charge. We want all our services to be accessible to folks seeking care; if you need treatment in your home but the cost feels inaccessible, please do not hesitate to reach out directly.
Rates
All Families Acupuncture strives to be financially accessible. We offer both individual and community style sessions; all services are offered on a sliding scale. We do not require proof of income; we trust you to pay the most you can within the scale. Paying at the highest level you can afford allows us to better support our community and serve those experiencing economic hardship who need flexibility to access care. At any given time, we offer a limited number of sessions below sliding scale – if you are seeking care but the scale we offer feels inaccessible to you, please reach out to us to explore the availability of this option.
Single session rates are based on annual income, but your situation may be affected by factors such as income flow, family needs, unexpected illness, emergencies, etc.
